I am delighted to share with you the beginnings of a new group at nurture, one which I hope will become a part of our week here for a long time to come.

Nurture is now holding a lovely weekly get together for mummies, with their babes in arms. Come to talk, support, meet other mums, and partake in tea drinking and biscuit eating of course.

This weekly meeting for mothers and their babies takes place every Tuesday afternoon from 2.00-3.30pm at the Nurture Studio. Talking may sound like a luxury for a mother. But it isn't. Talking affirms the importance of what we are doing as mothers. Few jobs other than motherhood leave us so alone, so unsupported, and with so much responsibility.

As mothers we face all kinds of decisions, no matter how
unprepared and inexperienced we may be. Relationships with family,
friends and colleagues may also change. It is heartwarming to discover,
by talking, how much we all share as mums. Mothers Talking is not like a casual chat among friends. Its structure encourages discussion. Babies enjoy these meetings too! There is no age limit for them (I'll let you use your own discretion as to what you think would distract from the group) and both breast and bottle fed babies are welcome.

Our group begins on Tuesday 7th February 2012
There is a contribution of £4/week for each mummy and baby

(biscuits & cakes welcome as part payment!)

Please drop me an email to let me know you may be coming

Look forward to seeing you there,

Best Wishes,

Sian

Why is it important to continue massage postnatally?

During the postnatal period, your body is going through big changes and you need to be careful not to over stimulate it. The body has just experienced one of the most emotional and exhausting athletic events in your life. The time it takes for your body to return to normal differs for each individual woman. It all depends on factors such as: the type of pregnancy you had, your general health and the type of birth you experienced. However specialised massage and bodywork treatment can commence immediately after giving birth. The treatment is designed specifically for your individual needs.

Benefits of Postnatal Massage:

Emotionally and physically the postnatal period can put a great deal of strain on mothers and massage during this time can help to:

Alleviate the muscle strain and muscle fatigue of labour and birth

Rebalance the pelvic and spinal structures

Restore and normalise abdominal structures

Promote pelvic floor healing and comfort

Restore normal walking patterns

Facilitate healing from caesarean birth

Prevent and reduce back and neck pain caused by caring for the newborn

Take time to fully relax and help the body recover

Give nurturing and emotional support

It is important that you take care of yourself as well as your baby in the months following childbirth.

A full consultation is required prior to any treatment

How does aromatherapy massage work?

The nostrils are attached to a part of the brain called the limbic system. The limbic system controls emotions and influences the nervous system and hormones.
When you inhale essential oil molecules, messages are transmitted to the limbic system and affect heart rate, stress level, blood pressure, breathing, memory, digestion, and the immune system.
Essential oils are also believed to be absorbed through the skin. Home treatments can also be recommended.
Each essential oil has different healing properties. For example, some calm while others energize.
